Bar a Vin

Bar a Vin is a wine bar and a restaurant in the middle of Tel Aviv. It is all dedicated to fine wine and fine food inspired by the french decadent cuisine. The place interior was designed to reflect the food, a french, romantic yet lively atmosphere.

The project

I was asked to design and build a WordPress website using an existing template and alternating it to the restaurant's wants and needs.

The challenge

Was a personal challenge. It was my first time building a site with the WordPress platform. For this project, I Learn  CSS and HTML, and the WordPress system, to get all the different elements to work properly.

The users

Yong diners how lives to eat and drink.
They want to be In the middle of the city and feel like it's a small bar in a quiet street.

For this project, my first goal was to capture the restaurant atmosphere online and get the user excited and impressed.

Visuals Impression

  • Colors - I chose romantic colors like dusty pink and contrasted it with dark gray to give a nigh time sens.

  • Graphic elements - I incorporated floral ornaments that are common in old french architecture design to enhance the romantic feel.

  • Typography - I Chose serif fonts for the Latin letters headings, and clean but unique sans-serif fonts for the body text. This combination keeps the romantic yet high-end message.

  • Image - I used manly appetizing food photos, to tempt the user to take a bite.

Second Goal - book a table

Below you can find the website pages. You can see how I used all those elements to create the desired impression and understand the users' path from the menu to 'make a reservation'.

Project achievements

The Client has requested a simple contact form witch in the user can fill in his name, phone, and reservation details. The confirmation is made on a return phone call from the restaurant. This was a less desired way to solve the reservation part. Due to technical difficulties from the client side we decided to choose it anyway with the option to change it in the future.

with that being said we still got great results.

25% of table orders were made online.

Reservations were made by tourists planning their upcoming visit.
